Zeng Shaoxuan beats Chen Ti 2-0 to enter semifinals
(Beijing, October 12) The men's singles main draw quarterfinals of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 ITF Pro Circuit were held at Olympic Green Tennis Center on October 12. China's Zeng Shaoxuan defeated No. 3 seed Chen Ti of Chinese Taipei 2-0 to qualify for the semifinals.
In the preliminaries yesterday Chen Ti beat his Russian opponent Andrei Plotniy 2-0 to make the quarterfinals. This year he has twice entered the finals of the futures tournaments and thrice the quarterfinals of the challenge series. Although not seeded in the on-going event, Zeng Shaoxuan is not to be belittled as the No. 3 on the Chinese team, who has twice moved into the semifinals and once into the quarterfinals in this year's futures tournaments.
In his match against Chen Ti this morning, Zeng Shaoxuan had good control of the situation in the first set, leading 5-1 and then took the set 6-2 after a double fault by Chen Ti.
In the second set Zeng Shaoxuan again led 5-1, but Chen Di fought back aggressively and clinched three games in a row to turn the score at 5-4. In the 10th game, after missing winning chances on three occasions, Zeng managed to regain advantage in his service and finally won the set 6-4 and the match to rank among the top four.
